I was reading the info on Rt. Delaware. Here's some corrections for you on the SOG site.
Spring 70: 1-0 Danial Ster

Jul 70: 1-0 Jim Jones (Shorten)

Dec 70 Jones departs PCS?

____________________________________________________________
Should be:
Jan 70:
Dan Ster; 1-0
Jim Jones (Shorten) 1-1
Gary Harned 1-2 (Gary was lost with Rt. Pennsylvania after this mission with Rt. Delaware)
Jan. 70
Jim Jones (Shorten) 1-1 Rt. Delaware
March 70:
Jim Jones (Shorten) 1-0
Homer Hungerford 1-1
Aug. 70:
Jim Jones (Shorten) departs for SOA-B53
Jan. 71
Jim Jones (Shorten) departs PCS
Joe Vandiver ran a mission as 1-0 and Reinald Pope was 1-2, I was the 1-1 (Jim Jones-Shorten) when I returned from a 30 day leave.
I know that Joe Walker had Rt. Delaware after I left.
The Pope I knew was African American and one awesome dude. Let his son know that if it's the same Pope, I have 8mm movies of him at CCC.
Dr. Jim Jones-Shorten

I'm sitting in Rome, Italy on break from a contract in East Europe and have been continuing some efforts at putting together a history of RT or ST Delaware.  Here is what I've come up with so far.  I have e-mail address for Bruz, Jim Jones, Luke Dove and Dahling.  The only mention of Hamilton is by Billy Waugh to whom II'll be sending an e-mail (Note: you have his name misspelled in the in memoriam section on www.macvsog.org). Hopefully someone can fill in who ran Delaware before Jan 68.   There are a lot of questions:...for instance I'm not at all sure that Glover and Zabitosky were with Delaware when Fred won the CMH..  Also Its not clear if Hamilton was on Delaware or another team.  Thanks for the help

SSG Pope was in Second Company Omega when I took command in August of 68. By early January 1969, Pope went to recon with us at CCS. Pope may well have gone to Kontum/CCC about April 69, as many of our SSG's and above in recon left CCS or were hit bad by then. SSG Pope was a large man, who could damn sure hump the bush. I know he deserved more then any ARCOM V in 9/68 when he and SSG Waggoner hit an NVA battalion in Bu Gia Map with a 32 man platoon. Pope was about 5'-9" and weighed about 220. Damn he could hump the bush.

Sir,

My name is Renoir Pope (phantomflt@yahoo.com).  I am the son of MSG Reinald Pope (USA Ret) who was 1-0 of RT Delaware in 1969.  I came across his name on your web site in the RT Delaware history (you have his name as Donald Pope).

My father is doing well and lives in Northern California.  He retired as a Master Sergeant in the ‘80s (he went into Counter Intelligence).  I talked to him tonight and he said that he remembers you (as call sign Sugar Bear, I believe).  I have included his email in the cc of this email.

I would like to thank you for the time and effort that you have put into your website.  It gives me an insight to the incredible accomplishments of those who stood up and chose serve in SOG.

I happen to have a friend who is a director of development for the new US Army Museum.  She has informed me that they are looking for veterans to contribute personal and unit accounts.  I informed her that my father served in a unit that is not well known and often misunderstood and she said that she would be interested in connecting with veterans from the unit.  If you would like, I can forward her information to you.

Once again I can not thank you enough for your service and the amazing website.

Very Respectfully,

Renoir L. Pope
