Raymond Gauthier took a picture a few weeks ago at a Memorial Day ceremony. In the picture he was wearing a rainbow of medals on his uniform.
Wednesday night, the Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Hearts said Gauthier wears medals that he did not earn.
In a military document, Raymond Gauthier lists 26 medals he claims to have been awarded. It also notes he turned down the Medal of Honor.
The investigation started at a World War II shop in Naples. Two months ago, workers say Raymond Gauthier came in and asked for a box to hold all of his medals. But people at the store became suspicious, and the questions began.

A Collier County judge sentenced Raymond Gauthier to 90 days in jail Tuesday for possessing a phony form used to apply for a POW license plate and discount as a war veteran. Gauthier had pleaded guilty in April of submitting a form listing bogus military awards and honors to get the plate from the state of Florida. He was sentenced to probation then, but was charged with violating probation when probation officers found another form during a routine search of his Brevard County home in May. That brought Tuesday’s jail sentence. |
I'm sending you his dd214 with his ss# on it but he supplied this to the store owner who in turn asked me to check him out. He is without a doubt 100% bullshit and you will see what I mean. Monday I'm going check and see if what I heard is true. I think he has a POW Plate and I will have that removed like I have had several PH Plates removed. I think anything that will piss this guy off more would be good, your organization I hope will lend a hand in this. He has a criminal record for assault and some other stuff and is no prize, I would like to go all the way with everything we can do to him, the FBI has a little interest in this as well. I think I opened a real can of worms with this one. Let me know if you can see this stuff OK. This is a very sad person.
Here's his bogus DD214.Just for starters, please note his award of "Two Silver Stars and Two Bronze Stars." Now, what is wrong with that, you ask? Well, if the DD214 was legit, it would have stated "Silver Star w/Oak Leaf Cluster and Bronze Star w/Oak Leaf Cluster". He also claims to have been a POW, what a bunch of crap this guy is.

His official military records from the National Record Center shows him with 7 years, 8 months, and 27 days of service and discharged as a "Private" and the only school he attended was "Wheeled Vehicle Maintenance School" no Special Forces:
His assignments while in the military shows he was at Ft Bragg, but not with anything to do with Special Forces.
