The enemy is in retreat, his facebook is down, his website is down! I say we attack and I am willing to lead the charge. He worked for me and lied to me. He has also dishonored the law enforcement profession.

BUSTED, HE IS A FRAUD, SOG WANNABE!

The first and last refuge of the wannabe--no records and secret training class! Nobody knew I was in Vietnam...

Walter Okamoto having claimed to have served with MACVSOG or Special Operations in Vietnam has qualified for the title of "Wannabe's" and inclusion in the Hall of Shame

He may have committed a criminal act under the "Stolen Valor Act"!

It is also a federal crime to impersonate a Officer of the armed forces. That alone is jail time.

Confirmation he is a fraud, SOG wannabe! Mary sent me his DD-214; he was a reserve medic for five months of active duty. Never went overseas at all. his DD-214, which doesn't support anything other than six months as a naval reservist hospital corpsman-by Larry Bailey, (Note:  See his military information obtained via FOIA at the bottom of this work)  NOTE: The document that is cited herewith as a DD-214 is incorrect, the form is a NA FORM 13164, information released under the Freedom of Information Act concerning an individual's military records.

SEE  his "Experience" page at http://www.okamotoforsheriff.com/experience.php, he states: (Taken down, but I've captured the quote here and the entire experience page below he had online).

"Walt is also a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Navy from 1963-1965, where he worked classified operations in Naval Intelligence on reconnaissance missions for MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam - Studies and Observation Group)."

Please note:  SOG's first missions were all Vietnamese, no Americans on the teams began in 1964 and those Vietnamese operators were inserted into North Vietnam, they were all captured.  These teams were trained and operated out of Long Thanh, all Americans that were involved in their training and insertions are known.  The first Americans that ran reconnaissance's missions began in October of 1965, see  We Were Once Brave and Foolish for the full story of the first American mission and the men who were on it.  There was no Walter Okamoto on any team. See his military records below:

in addition to the material presented herewith and below; the POW Network has a large listing of phonies and includes Mr. Okamoto as well at http://www.pownetwork.org/ horv/horv_902.htm

For the record:  The person referred to through out named Larry is Larry Bailey, Captain, US Navy Seals with Vietnam service. Steve Sherman is the MACVSOG and Special Forces Historian and has detailed knowledge of SOG history, he was a First Lieutenant in the US Army Special Forces with Vietnam service as well. . Jon is Jon Potter, 1Lt, MACVSOG with Vietnam Service.

AWARDS DISPLAYED BY OKAMOTO: (Since he has them displayed on his website under "Experience", he is portraying to the world that these medals have been earned and awarded)

Based on records obtained from the US National Archives and Records Administration (NA Form 13164 Rev 02-02) does not reflect any awards. That being said.

The item under the circular Navy circular insignia on the far left is a Navy SEAL Trident (aka: Budweiser)  and is awarded to those naval personnel who have successfully completed the arduous SEAL training program.  Okamoto's records does not reflect he completed said training and that he was on active duty for his initial basic training and specialty training as a "Hospitalman" from 9/1/64 to 3/2/65. He has no other active duty service.

1st Medal displayed is The National Defense Medal, it  may be the only medal he was awarded, and he may not have been awarded it as it states the criteria for award with an exception "Guard and Reserve forces personnel on short tours of duty to fulfill training obligations under an inactive duty training program."  It is not known to me if Navy Basic Training and Initial Specialty training is considered as "inactive duty training?"  Regardless, this maybe the only medal he received????

2nd Medal displayed is the Vietnam Service Medal.  Awarded to all members of the Armed Forces of the United States serving in Vietnam and contiguous waters or airspace there over, after 3 July 1965 through 28 March 1973. Individuals qualified for the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service in Vietnam between 1 July 1958 and 3 July 1965 shall remain qualified for the medal.  Since he only served 5 months of active duty for training, he could not have served overseas and thus never in a combat environment, thus he is not authorized this Medal, further, his only active duty service was prior to the date of 3 July 1965.

3rd Medal displayed is the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (3rd medal) is awarded to personnel who meet one of the following requirements: a. Served in the Republic of Vietnam for six months during the period of 1 March 1961 and 28 March 1973. or Served outside the geographical limits of the Republic of Vietnam and contributed direct combat support to the Republic of Vietnam and Armed Forces for six months. Since he only served 5 months of active duty for training, he could not have served overseas and thus never in a combat environment and not authorized this Medal.

On the very top of the rows of ribbon displayed in the middle of the medals, There's a USN/USMC Combat Action Ribbon, of which he is not authorized as he saw no combat.

The other six medals are naval awards and I am unaware of what they are so not able to comment at this time.

"I had my contact at Coronado SEAL base check the 100% database of UDT and SEAL grads since 1950's and no one appears on any roster even close to this name.  Someone needs to ask him what his UDT or BUDS class number was. No SEAL ever forgets that and is usually telling when they cant come up with a class number. for whatever reason the UDT and SEAL community are big on the class number as a status symbol, much much more then us Army guys were about our SFQC or Ranger class number"- Eldon Bargewell, MG, Ret

As Underwater Demolition Teams began to be phased into the Navy Seals, the Underwater Demolition Badge was used as a template for the new SEAL Badge.
During the Vietnam War, the Underwater Demolition Badge was issued side by side with the Special Warfare Badge (SEAL Badge). By 1975, the Underwater Demolition Badge had been declared obsolete and was no longer issued for uniform wear. Service members who had previously held the Underwater Demolition Badge could apply for the award of the SEAL Badge in lieu of the obsolete decoration.

Got this from Okamoto's face book front page:

And this little bit is just for Walt's supporters - - - - As for those "ribbons" on his website -- that was a gift from me to him, as they didn't give medals for clandestine operations. A veteran helped me get the correct ones based on what little I knew. Walt knew nothing about it until I surprised him with them in the shadow box three years ago. And yes, I can get a statements to THAT fact too!... Which will be presented in court! HE NEVER ONCE claimed that he "WON" those ribbons or was "presented" those ribbons. He displayed them because it represented where he had been and what he had done and they are NOT on his records. He deserves them, whether he got them from me or should have gotten them years ago!!!! It was MY recognition of his service and sacrifices. Period.See More.
The above is from me, Angie O.

RESPONSE:  What?? By what legal authority does this person have, a private citizen, non military, have to present awards and by what legal authority and individual logic does a former military person accept and display military awards/medals from a private citizen who does not have the authority to award them in the first place?  Utter nonsense and any former military member well knows the medals were not presented. The records reflects that Mr. Okamoto was not in an area where those medals/ribbons mention were authorized.

A person can't give awards to another person and then that person displays them as awards he earned and received as his own. Please note that the awards on Okamoto's webpage does not state these awards/medals were not his and belonged to someone else.  Since when did the military not give awards for "clandestine operations"? Who ever this person is that wrote this should check out the many awards given to MACVSOG personnel.  In a quick review of Who's Who From MACV-SOG by Stephen Sherman, MACV-SOG historian, there are 30 pages, 60 individuals per page of Valor and Purple Heart awards presented to the men from SOG.  Many more awards were presented including Combat Infantry Badges, Vietnamese Jump Wings and Meritorious awards during this period... The book can be ordered online at http://www.specialforcesbooks.com/MACVSOG.htm. The comment above is an admission these are fake awards.

THREATS ON OKAMOTO'S FACE BOOK PAGE.
Walter S. Okamoto for Sheriff
Somebody's butt is in a wringer. Using slander and lies to influence an election is a crime, using Privacy Act information is a crime, slander is a crime, and since it is IN PRINT it also becomes libel, which is a crime. If ANYONE thinks that the slander and lies about Walt's military service will go unanswered, better think again! You have made this personal now and, election or no election, w......in or no win, we will take this ALL THE WAY, and EVERYONE that was involved in this will be prosecuted, from here to Virginia, to the fullest extent possible, and then sued in civil court as well! Shane Ogden - you and your cohorts (working to elect Ryan Zollman) have picked on the wrong man because, unfortunately FOR YOU, Walt is telling the truth, so don’t give me that “may be a criminal violation of the Stolen Valor Act” crap!! Anyone who knows Walt even A LITTLE BIT, knows he doesn’t make statements without proof, even if you are not privileged to see it. This proof will be brought forward in FEDERAL COURT! We have already contacted the U.S. Attorney’s Office and they are aware of Walt’s website and his claims, and NOW they’re aware of YOUR facebook page and your slander and your attempts to affect the outcome of the election. DANG, Shane, you screwed up big time!!!! “Larry” and “Sherman” need to look a little harder and study a lot more about this period of war, as there is a LOT of information out there about these teams being in-country that APPARENTLY they aren’t aware of (so much for being experts). Oh, and if anyone (mainly YOU, Shane) had bothered to look at the “trident” on his website, it is a UDT pin, not a “SEAL” pin. So if you’re wrong about THAT little bit of info, what ELSE are you wrong about??!~!!

(Note:  The information I received questioning Okamoto's MACVSOG claims was not from Shane Ogden, never heard of him until yesterday (5/15/12).-rln

Everyone who believes that the U.S. NAVY was not involved in South East Asia prior to ’65, raise your hand! Everyone who believes that ALL operations have been declassified and that that info shows up on DD214 and the NAVPERS 601, go drink your Kool-Aid! Everyone who believes that Walt’s records have not already been examined by the VA and other agencies, you are a fool! And if you’d read the darned thing, you would see that he was attached to Naval Intelligence.

This is WHY Walt is running for Sheriff, because of this type of bullying tactics, which runs all the way to the top!! It will stop, at least for you, whether Walt is Sheriff or not. That is a promise from me, Shane. (Angie)

Note the quotes below that refute the “expertise” of Shane’s sources that say that MACV-SOG was not formed until 1965. Bullcrap!! They started out in 1963 as MAAG (Military & Assistance & Advisory Group - Vietnam ) and were rolled into MACV-SOG in March 1964.

“In National Security Action Memorandum 273 President Johnson reaffirms Kennedy's policies and establishes economic and military aid to the new Minh government. NSAM 273 also states that plans should be developed for covert military operations up to 50km into Laos and asks the GVN to focus its counterinsurgency efforts on the Mekong Delta, where the Viet Cong threat is greatest.”

It wasn’t just the Army in there!

"1964 January 14th Lt. General William Westmoreland is appointed Deputy Commander of MACV

January 24th MACV Studies & Observations Group (SOG) is formed to carry out Oplan 34A, a program of covert actions against North Vietnam."

The Navy was already working under Oplan34A by this time - Larry & Sherman should have known this information! You guys should try contacting your victims ahead of time, maybe actually try and find out who they are before you open mouth and insert foot. How many other real veterans have you attacked? You’ll be named in this too.

We could go forever on this subject, proving these guys wrong. But why cast pearls before SWINE! Doing it in Federal Court will be sweeter!

RESPONSE:

As for the Trident or UDT badge, it matters not as Mr. Okamoto's  active duty service was 5 months and there is no training he received for either.

I grabbed one of my books on SOG, Special Operations Association Commemorative book and flipped through the beginning of the book and noted for the records the following:

Initially President Johnson refused to permit US Personnel cross border operations into Laos and did not do so until September 1965: "President Johnson and his White House Staff wanted 'solid evidence' on the enemy's infiltration routes in Laos, which could be produced by U.S. Special Forces reconnaissance teams. LBJ was reluctant and would not permit the US  military in 'neutral' Laos. Laotian 'neutrality' status had been reaffirmed during the conference held at Geneva, Switzerland in 1962 . Any of China's proposed plans for official involvement and assistance to North Vietnam was feared, Another Korea was not desired and covert Chinese activities were best left to simmer quietly, rather than chance full, overt actions." page 24, Special Operation Association commemorative book

On "September 21, 1965, official Presidental approval was given to SOG for American Special Forces to lead indigenous reconnaissance personnel wearing unmarked/sterile uniforms behind enemy lines."..."The anticipated (Presidential) approval for U.S. -led reconnaissance teams in Laos arrived, and on October 18, 1965, the first 'Shinning Brass' reconnaissance team lead by......was launched from Kham Duc....." Page 26  Special Operation Association commemorative book ..."

I don't know who his running mate is, don't care either as this is the first time I've seen his name.  OK, THREATS WON'T WORK SO IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GOING TO COURT.  ONCE A COURT ACTION IS FILED, INTERROGATORIES WILL BE FILED DEMANDING ALL THE PROOF FROM MR. OKAMOTO OF ALL HIS CLAIMS.  BY THE WAY BOTH LARRY AND SHERMAN ARE EXPERTS IN THE FIELD OF MACVSOG AND THE NAVY'S INVOLVEMENT.  CAN'T WAIT TO GET HIS IN A COURT OF LAW SO THE BALL IS IN MR. OKAMOTO'S COURT TO MOVE THIS TO THE NEXT LEVEL. WE, THE MEN OF SOG, HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE AS THERE ARE SO MANY FAKE WANNABE'S AND THEY ALWAYS COME OUT SAYING THEY ARE GOING TO SUE.  END OF CONVERSATION ON COMMENTS FROM MR. OKAMOTO OR HIS SUPPORTERS.
I SENT THE FOLLOWING EMAIL TO MR. OKAMOTO:

Mr. Walter Okamoto.

I want to be sure you know who I am and how to have me served with the lawsuit.

I am Robert L. Noe, former MAVSOG with the qualifications as Special Forces Intelligence NCO; Personnel Records NCO; Administration Specialist with duty assignments with MACVSOG, including being qualified as a SOG Long Range Reconnaissance Team Leader and Hatchet Force Platoon Sergeant among other areas of expertise that qualifies me as an expert to challenge your assertions that you were with MACVSOG and some of your other military claims; especially your claims regarding "black" operations; your alleged claims that your records/assignments are classified. My qualifications also includes assignment in the area of document security/classifications.

I am the sole owner of the MACVSOG.CC website and I am the sole individual responsible for what is published there and listed you in the MACVSOG's Hall of Shame for fake/wannabe's at

I was asked to have you vetted by a former Navy individual who is retired because he felt what you stated on you website regarding SOG might be false. I created a webpage and added you to the MACVSOG Hall of Shame Wannabe's.

The input by Mr. Steve Sherman and Mr Larry Bailey and others were in response to my query of your claim. Although, from the outset, I knew what you presented regarding your MACVSOG claims were false on the face, I followed up with input from them for confirmation purposes.

Please ensure you have me serviced at to Mr. Robert L. Noe, 300 Pauline Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana 71303.

Again, looking forward to seeing you in court where you are going to be under oath and your failure to do so will subject you to perjury charges. It's one thing to tell tall tales to the public or even stating in writing false accomplishments/qualifications and quite another to do so in a court of law.

In court, be assured, I will have former members of MACVSOG who were there when it was formed; those who planned and executed the various aspects of the program including Active and former members of the intelligence community of the Navy record center regarding your claims of "classification" of your records and the various areas that directly counters your various assignments and awards you have listed on your webpage. Unfortunately for you, there are many survivors of the Vietnam era who were there that will be willing to take the stand and confront you.

Robert L. Noe

Captain, US Army Special Forces (Retired)

Realized I failed to provide the URL to the webpage for your MACVSOG Hall of Shame Wannabe. Here it is:

Note:  Jon Potter, 1Lt, USA Special Forces with MACVSOG service states:

Add my name to wannabe/poser Okamato's list to sue. I left both my home phone and cell phone number at that sheriff's office. My concern is what good is his testimony in any criminal case when he falsifies his military service?

10-1 says he has VA healthcare or more.

Jon

Walt has a brick in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Wall in SE Idaho.

Note: It is a federal crime to impersonate a Officer of the armed forces. That alone is jail time.

The brick above states he is a Lt (Jg), USN; however, the records from the record center reflects he was enlisted, not an officer.  Further, the brick states he served in Laos; that is flat wrong, the US Navy did not operate with SOG in LAOS, those operating in Laos were American Army Special Forces with indigenous personnel and we did not have Navy personnel with us at any time. The brick indicates 1963-64. Note: Only Vietnamese were used by SOG in 1964 and they were sent to North Vietnam, Americans SOG personnel did not conduct any operations until Oct of 1965.

At http://www.fredsplace.org/reunion/sg/0097_n.shtml#1960 the following post is listed:

"On 11/03/08 Email Walter Okamoto said: I served aboard during 1963 and ...I graduated bootcamp from NTC, San Diego Nov 1963. Am looking for the 'Anchor Yearbook', photos or any other info. Lost all in a fire. Found 'Gary L Wright' on internet from that class, but it was an old email address. Said he was from Alabama in 2002, according to email at that time. Anyones help would be great."

Comment about the above post:

Okamoto confirms he was in Boot camp during 1963 and Boot Camp is not for Navy Officers. If the man just graduated boot camp in Nov 63, he was too inexperienced for Vietnam in 63-64. There is no way he would have been in Vietnam during any period of 1963,  How was he an O-2 in 64?This man is has been caught, so; he pulls the I will sue crap.  If you click on 60, you will read his NTC San Diego Boot Camp claim.--Jon (Memo:  Based on his NA Form 13164, his active duty service was from May 1, 1964 through March 2, 1965 and therein lies a question, what was he doing at NTC Boot Camp during 1963? When we look at his individual Navy Reserve Record for Training, NAVPERS Form 601 (1-54) below, it shows he was in his Navy Reserve Unit in the United States from May 27, 1963 thru December 31, 1963.  Conclusion, Okamoto was in here on US soil from May of 63, when he enlisted, until March 2, 1964 so there is no way 1) he was in Vietnam during any period during 1963, 2) He would not have been a Lt.(jg), a naval commissioned officer during any period of 1963 or 1964. Based on his records, he completed his Boot Camp Mar 2, 1964, he would have returned back to his naval reserve unit then would have had to apply to attend Officer Training would have taken months, then if accepted, the training would have taken additional "months" putting him beyond 1964 for commissioning. Remember, he enlisted in the Navy as a Navy enlisted man, at the very bottom, E1.

Note: 1. A Navy 0-2 is a Lt (jg).  2. Let him bring on a lawsuit, the members of SOG would love to confront him in a court of law!!! Below he claims to be a Lt.(jg), a naval officer during 1963/64; but his military records show that he was released from the Navy Reserves as a an Enlisted Man E3.  Analysis elsewhere on this webpage documents he was here in the United States in a Reserve Unit from late 1963, the year he enlisted in the Navy Reserves and stayed in that reserve unit until he started his basic training/MOS trainign in Sep of 64 and was called to Active Duty for 5 months in San Diego, CA until he was released in Mar of 65...If he was an Enlisted man E1 when he enlisted and was ultimately released from the Navy Reserves; what was the source of his commission to Officer Status.  He should be prosecuted for impersonating a Commissioned Officer, a criminal act!

Attached is a copy of a NAVPERS 601 that Walter submitted to validate his service for the VFW.  Annotations are by Larry Bailey, Captain, USN Seal, Retired.

(Note:  The information he submitted is his Reserve time, not Active Duty Service, had Okamoto been sent to Vietnam, he would have received official orders to Active Duty and his military records would have reflected it)

Subject: Copy of NAVPERS 601 (1-54)

Carrie, John, Ben and Jeff,
Here is a copy of my NAVPERS 601 (1-54), at least, as much as you have clearance to see. In case you don’t understand the acronyms shown, I offer the following:
This is the lamest of excuses--that you don't have clearance to see his record. If that were true, he would be the only medic in the history of the USN to be able to make that statement. "Records" aren't classified; some assignments are. I might add that there are no "black" records; some may be innocuous to cover black assignments, but every period of time will be covered, and it's not that hard to read between the lines.

“SG 12-9” refers to Security Group 12-9, the old name for Naval Intelligence. Crap. Naval Intelligence has always been Naval Intelligence. Walt may have been assigned to a Naval Reserve Security Group, but it was as a Hospital Corpsman, not a spook.

“NSG Div 12-9” was the “new name” for that same Intelligence group, now called a Division. Crap again. No "group" would downgrade itself to a "division." Divisions make up groups.

“Tr 10/28SG12-9” refers to the “special training” I was sent to for the Intel group. "Tr" stands for "training."

“Rp 10/29SD12-53” refers to my reporting to the new Security Division 12-53. "Rp" stands for "report."

“Tr 3/6 SD 12-53” refers to further training in the new Security Division. As above.

And note that the entire sequence covers only 1963! Further, and you can vouch for this, no specialized person can get the quals he needs in six months! And any schools an E2 Corpsman would have gone to would be medically oriented (except for maybe admin courses).

This is the lamest of excuses--that you don't have clearance to see his record. If that were true, he would be the only medic in the history of the USN to be able to make that stateme
nt.

As for the supposed “repository of information” from your source, they obviously do not have the complete records, as none of the ops guys from 1962 through August 7, 1964, were ever “recorded”, since both Kennedy and Johnson steadfastly claimed that “we have no combat troops in Laos or Cambodia, and the few American soldiers we have in Viet Nam are there for advisory purposes, only”, and, neither of these two Presidents ever wanted any record kept of any clandestine operatives…we were “expendable”

This makes the transition from "crap" to "bullshit." I'm going to ask my MACSOG friends on the cc line to comment on this. My vocabulary may not be sufficient to use all the expletives necessary, and "bullshit" won't do it. Steve and Robert, CSM (ret.) Jeff Howard is running this case for Okamoto's American Legion post.

(Comment from Robert Noe, MACVSOG.  You hit the nail on the head Larry, utter bullshit.  President Johnson did not want any American troops in Laos as earlier noted and did not permit any troops until September of 1965, and of course all military troops are somewhat "expendable", but that does not mean that they are just thrown to the wolfs, all efforts are taken to ensure their survivability....Records were kept; however, since no operations by American SOG personnel until October of 1965, and the fact SOG was not even in existence in 1963 and only Indigenous Vietnamese were in operation during 1964/early 65, there would be no records. One must be realistic and use logic when reviewing individual claims such as these. Here we have an individual who enlisted in the Navy Reserves on May 27, 1963 and went to Boot Camp and Military Occupation Training on Active Duty as a Hospitalman, arriving and singing into the US Naval Station San Diego, California on September 1st of 1964. He was in a holding status for the next couple days when his basic navy training started on September 9th of 1964 with Class A of the USNHCA, completing training on March 2nd of 1965 and was discharged from Active Duty and returned to Reserve status until  May 29th of 1969 completing his Navy Reserve Military Obligation.  The question is who would send anyone into a combat zone who has never been to basic training? He was not qualified to be deployed anywhere until after March 2 of 1965. Had he been deployed, he would have beed recalled to Active Duty and his records would have been duly noted. Talk about blowing smoke, this guy is full of it. The above analysis is from his military records furnished below. By the way, who in their right mind would send a raw sailor into combat in a very special unit that takes years of training to qualify for???? Remember he enlisted at the end 1964, didn't go to basic until the end of the following year, 1964.  How was he in Vietnam in 63 and 64 when he is documented as being here in the United States in a Reserve unit and then on Active Duty training for 5 months until March of 1965; how did he get to Vietnam when he was here?  Don't make me puke with a story that his military records have been doctored to provide cover for his super secret crap!).

Look at the dates: they only cover May-December 1963--hardly enough time to get the spook training required to go to MACSOG, which didn't exist. And it sure as hell doesn't support his claims to have been an officer and a UDT man (now referred to as SEAL of course). And speaking of that, when did he ever find time to go through UDT Training, which would have been four months basic UDT, three weeks Airborne, and several weeks SCUBA (probably four). If he insists that he was a UDT officer, ask him his class number. If he were legit, it would be around Class 28 to Class 32. I was Class 30 and graduated in January 1964. If he's close, ask him whether it was East Coast or West Coast. Then where training was conducted (EC: Little Creek, VA; WC: Coronado, CA).

Where's the rest of his 601 (Naval Reserve) file? He had several years in the Naval Reserve and left the Service as an E3, I believe I remember. That's no great shakes for several years of duty.

If I were running your show, I would ask him if he could live with being charged with falsifying a federal record. He might get religion pretty quick. Make him think that his explanations amount to falsification (which they probably don't, technically).

Finally, one of his bios says that he was in MACSOG 1963-65. Another (or maybe the same one) said he was in university from 1962-67. It's one or the other!

And I'd be happy to be a telephone witness if you wanted to conduct a hearing. I could rip him to shreds.

Primary Election is on the 15th of May and he is the favorite.

Walt received a phone call today from Arizona, from Timothy Overton, Special Assistant to Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ.
After a special meeting and discussion, Sheriff Joe has stated that he is fully endorsing Walt as candidate for Sheriff of Adams County!!!!! Thank you Sheriff Joe!!! We couldn't be more honored !! (Anyone who wants to verify this can reach the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Special Assistant Timothy Overton at 602=876=1820.) (April 17, 2012)

Walt has received the endorsement of Robert W. Broshears, Sgt. Retired (Washington State Police)

(Inventor of the "drag sled", which is used by all law enforcement for accident reconstruction nationwide)

(see News page for his letter. 4/4/2012)

Walt just received the unequivocal support and endorsement of

Chad Huff, Payette County Sheriff.

We have so much respect for Sheriff Huff and his accomplishments and experience.

It's an honor to be endorsed by him.

(Read Sheriff Huff's letter on the News Page.)

Walt just received the support and endorsement of Ryan Redmon, the Chief of Police of the Cascade Police Dept. THANK YOU Ryan!! Walt looks forward to working with you again! (3/20/2012)

Steve, since SOG's first's mission was conducted in Oct of 65, seems somewhat of a stretch that we would have someone who worked classified operation in Naval intelligence on reconnaissance's mission between 63 and 65. Your thoughts?

Walt Okamoto: Walt is also a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Navy from 1963-1965, where he worked classified operations in Naval Intelligence on reconnaissance missions for MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam - Studies and Observation Group).

Walt has over 42 years of law enforcement experience, working in every position, from patrol officer with Boise P.D., to Detective with Syracuse, Utah P.D., to Captain over Patrol at the Adams County Sheriff's Office. He has 26 years experience in federal law enforcement and retired from them in 1992. During that career he also worked deep cover, border patrol, executive protection, and drug smuggling cases.

After moving back to Idaho in 1997, he worked for the Adams County Sheriff's Office for 10 years, retiring in 2008. For almost 20 years he had been a certified instructor for the Utah Peace Officer Standards & Training, and also the Idaho POST, training officers to protect the public in both states.

Working with, and gaining the cooperation of other agencies was a hallmark throughout his career.

Walt has continued to stay familiar with local happenings and regional and national issues, as well. He is currently a certified instructor for Homeland Security, teaching anti-terrorism courses, and Incident Command courses around the country.

He has been in charge of agency budgets, large and small, always ensuring that those budgets were adhered to, and still keeping the level of excellence in his and his staff's work in every instance.

Walt is also a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Navy from 1963-1965, where he worked classified operations in Naval Intelligence on reconnaissance missions for MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam - Studies and Observation Group).

He was trained as a UDT member (Underwater Demolition Team - the forerunner of present day SEALs), where he was the team leader, as a Lt(jg), an expert marksman, and also a mapping and strategy analyst. He is a member of American Legion Post 72 in Council.

Walt has taught hunter eduction for over 35 years, bow hunter ed., trapping, shooting, boating, home firearms safety, personal protection courses and concealed weapons courses. He enjoys working with people, teaching some of the skills he's learned over his lifetime, and says it is satisfying to know that he can help the public better defend themselves. Walt is a very strong advocate of Second Amendment Rights and Landowner Rights!

For recreation Walt enjoys hunting, camping, fishing, trapping, raising horses, 4-wheeling, shooting, and just working on his own small farm. He also enjoys whitewater rafting, hiking, cross-country skiing and bird watching.

He has always been of the opinion that law enforcement officers are servants OF the public, not the other way around, and that showing respect and being fair are trademarks of a good officer.

Everyone in Adams County who knows Walt can sum him up with one word - "INTEGRITY".
